Commission Project

NYSBDA would like to express appreciation to all of the schools and directors that participated in the recent consortium commision project that resulted in a new Level III-IV work by renowned composer Timothy Broege, premiered at Symposium 2009. NYSBDA is excited about the level of participation and will soon host another consortium commision. Stay "tuned" for more information. Symposium 2009

NYSBDA would like to extend its gratitude to everyone who helped make Symposium 2009 a huge success! Special thanks should go to 1st VP Melinde Poupore for all her work in planning, recruiting, and coordinating all of the events, clinics, and concerts. Also much appreciation goes to Michael Cordaro, Timothy Savage, and Dan Chouiniere, chairs of the NYSBDA honor Bands for the huge amount of work in selecting conductors, honor band members, and onsite coordination.

NYSSMC 2009

The NYSSMC summer conference will take place August 9-11 at the Albany Crown Plaza Hotel. A schedule of NYSBDA-sponsored events along with clinician bios and session descriptions is available at the NYSSMC link.

Symposium 2010

It's not too early to make plans for Symposium 2010. The dates for the next symposium are March 5-7, 2010. An application form to perform or present at Symposium 2010 is available in the Symposium area of the website and Honor Band application forms will soon appear in the Online Forms area. Other information about programming will appear as it becomes available.
