Frank Turso
Frank Turso retired from the William Floyd School District on Long Island after 33 years of teaching. His responsibilities included directing the 11th & 12th Grade Symphonic Band, 9th Grade Concert Band, Marching Band, and instrumental music lessons. He also served as the SCMEA chair for Suffolk County’s NYSCAME High School Concert Band and SCMEA Band Librarian.
Frank received BM and MM In Music Education degrees from the State University College at Fredonia. While at William Floyd his bands received 6A, Gold and Gold w/Distinction ratings at NYSSMA Major Organization Festivals as well as Excellent and Superior ratings in national Festivals.
Frank has served as guest conductor and clinician for several in-district conferences, is the NYSBDA Treasurer, and was the NYSBDA Region 8 Representative for 4 years. Frank is a NYSSMA certified Major Organizations Adjudicator and Brass Adjudicator. As a trumpet player he performs with the Bay Brass Quintet and community bands in Shoreham and Riverhead. He has also performed with the Sound Symphony.
