Clinic Title: Score Marking for Conductors: Learning a score and building an interpretation
This clinic takes the conductor through a methodical, layered approach to marking that aids in learning the score. This method also builds and documents your interpretation of the music and is equally effective for choral, band, or orchestral works. The following elements of score marking will be discussed: the delineation of phrases and sub-phrases, tempo and tempo relationships, meters, fermatas, bowings, cueing, balance and orchestration. This step-by-step procedure emphasizes consistency and accuracy. Score marking equipment will be discussed as well as helpful hints for dealing with transpositions.
