Kathryn Struzik
Kathryn “Katie” Struzik has been Chairperson of the NYSSMA Manual since January 2001. She is a graduate of the Crane School of Music (SUNY Potsdam) and Hartt School of Music (Univ. of Hartford, CT). Her professional affiliations include NYSBDA, NYSSMA, MENC and Sigma Alpha Iota. She taught instrumental music in the Pine Bush and Tuckahoe School Districts. She is a former member of the Clarinet Collection. In addition to chairing the Manual, Katie is currently a substitute music teacher in the Brighton and Webster School Districts. She is also a professional piano accompanist. She lives in Webster with her husband Mike, her two sons Chris and Matt, and dog “Lucky.”

Bring your Manual with you!! One of NYSSMA’s best kept “secrets,” NYSSMA Manual Chairperson Katie Struzik will take you through the Manual cover to cover. Ever since the first edition was printed, the NYSSMA Manual has been an important resource for music educators throughout the country. This clinic will answer any questions you’ve ever had, from the history of the Manual, to the editing process, to the current rules and regulations for solo festivals. The information contained in the Manual can help any teacher better prepare their students for festivals and Katie will help you find it quickly. The NYSSMA Manual Library will also be on site for perusal throughout the entire NYSBDA Symposium.
