The SUNY Fredonia School of Music will host Dr. Jason K. Fettig—former Director of the President’s Own Marine Band—with Dr. Paula Holcomb—Director of Bands at SUNY Fredonia—for a Wind Band Conducting Symposium! February 24th & 25th 2025!!
Zone 3:
Hofstra
Over the past few year, Hofstra’s NYSBDA Chapter has hosted a variety of events such as:
Perucussion Workshop – students of the percussion studio set up mini sessions teaching their fellow classmates the basic ins and out of how to play a variety of instruments including some maintainence and repair tips!
Marching Band Workshop – we had a speaker come in and show everyone everything you would need to know about competitive marching bands and we even went out on a field and practiced some marching basics!
Brass Bath Day – every fall semester we teach our classmates how to give your brass instruments a bath. This is a great chance to get the freshman involved and get to know everyone!
Honoe Band Day – May 2023 we started an annual tradition of inviting HS students from around the island for a day of workshops and rehearsing with the Hofstra Symphonic Band concluding with a concert that is free for all to attend!
